Awards all round at CNSL Grand Final 2010

TeamBath are The Co-operative Netball Superleague Champions 2010 having beaten Hertfordshire Mavericks 51 points to 44 on Saturday at Nottingham’s Trent FM Arena. This is the fourth time the team have been crowned Champions and Stacey Francis who played in defence for the winning team was awarded The Co-operative Player of the Match.

TeamBath’s Captain, Pam Cookey was later awarded The Co-operative Netball Superleague Player of the Year Award in a presentation ceremony that took place after the Grand Final. TeamBath’s Coach Jess Garland won The Co-operative Netball Superleague Coach of the Year Award; Jess commented; “I’m incredibly shocked to have won the award and I'm just really pleased for the team, I know it's a cliché but the players have to go out and do it, our job's done by the time they take to the court.”

With The Co-operative Netball Superleague 2010 season now at a close, Head of Sponsorship Liz Matkin commented; “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed following the teams this season and well done to TeamBath and to Pam and Jess who truly deserve their awards and are an inspiration to young netballers across the country – congratulations!”

Other winners on the night included; Loughborough Lightning’s Layla Guscoth who won Rookie of the Year, Carla Dziwoki from Leeds Carnegie won the Player’s Player Award, Lyn Ryland from Celtic Dragons is Volunteer of the Year, Gary Burgess was awarded Umpire of the Year and Surrey Storm received The Co-operative Community Award.

Northern Thunder’s Netball Talent League squad was also awarded their winner’s trophy during Saturday’s event. The team topped the league with 45 points finishing 8 ahead of Hertfordshire Mavericks.

Paul Clark, CEO of England Netball reflected; “It’s been a fantastic season and thank you to everyone who has supported the teams and the league, including The Co-operative and our volunteer network. We’ve come along way over the past five years and we’re looking forward to next year, the challenges that may bring and the success waiting to be shared – well done to everyone involved.”
